EAT FAST, PAY LESS

A hotel in Singapore introduced an express buffet eat all you can in 30 minutes and pay just half the price. After that experience, one diner reported "l lost my decorum, stuffing my mouth with yet more food. I lost my civility... and l lost my appetite for the rest of the day, so severe was my heartburn."
Sometimes in our devotional, we treat God's word like an express buffet. We Wolf it down as fast as we can and wonders why we haven't learned very much. Like physical food, spiritual food needs to be chewed.
'Reading the Word of God without reflecting, is like eating without chewing'

For those who have been Christian for a long time, we may have the tendency to speed-read through the passages, we have read many times before. When we do so, we lost out on what God in His infinite mercy is determined to show to us. This is evident in when we learn nothing new from the passages we read.
David said in the book of Psalms "My soul thirst for you; my flesh long for you" Psalm 63:1.
He also went further to say; after in his days discovered the futility of his times and saw God's faithfulness towards him, how God took him from the bushes from being the least child among his brethren(his father, Jesse's children), wrote and say "l will meditate on your precepts, and contemplate your ways" Psalm119:15.
To take time to brood on the Word of God is the right way to go.
To get the most value for our spiritual life is to treat God's word not as an express buffet, but by meditating on the Word of God.
Salient points are;
Spending time in meditation,
Hiding Scriptures in our heart,
Works in us to transform us, so we can mature to the stature of Christ.

  1. The only way we can be peaceful in life is to endeavour to connect and remain connected to the author of life, who incidentally is a loving Father, who will never chase us away no matter the number of times we come to him in a day.
